“Bringing people together to find solutions.” abxl was established as an SME in November 2012 and is based in Brussels, Belgium at the heart of the EU Institutions and Allied Headquarters, NATO. We provide project management, security and defense CBRN consultancy, standardization, professional chairing, and website design and management.

 

abxl has more than 25 years of experience in the fields of Security and Defense. Our experts have extensive experience in organizations such as National Governments, European Institutions, SMEs, Research Organisations, Military Organizations, NATO, Universities, Embassies, Digital agencies.

 

abxl has participated in and presided over thousands of meetings, workshops, seminars, conferences in the US, Europe, Asia, and Africa.

DIRECTOR

Widely connected and respected in the International Defense and Security sector and in Brussels where he has been based for the last 12 years. He is a qualified UK CBRN training officer with broad knowledge and experience in the field of CBRN detection, Reconnaissance and Survey (R&S) and a graduate of the USA Defense Special Weapons Agency Nuclear Weapons School, where he qualified in Radiological Accident Command, Control and Coordination.

 

He led the UK’s Nuclear Accident Response Organization (NARO), UK/US, military/civilian Health Control and Monitoring Force responsible for radiological R&S in the event of a radiological accident.

From 2001-2010 he served NATO’s Nuclear Planning Group (NPG) and NATO’s Weapons of Mass Destruction Center (WMDC) covering nuclear operations, safety and surety as well as CBRN defense strategies, policies and capabilities. He led the NATO HQ project team for the transformation of NATO’s CBRN defense capability, notably creating the NATO Combined Joint CBRN Defense Task Force.

 

Throughout a decade at NATO HQ, Brussels, as a staff officer and then Diplomat, he was in close touch with the latest NATO and European R&D in CBRN technology, organizing and chairing CBRN military/industry events and was, and still is, a speaker and Chair of CBRN-related and other conferences and events across the globe.

 

Since moving to the consultancy business in 2010, he has managed a variety of research projects including the European Commission DG Mobility and Transport feasibility study concerning measures to detect and deter the bringing of IEDs on board passenger ships and RoRo ferries. He currently leads the CEN European technical Standards CBRN Curriculum project for European CBRN First Responders within CEN Technical Committee (TC) 391.

 

Finally he is an MBA, a PRINCE2 Practitioner and holds qualifications in accountancy.
